"Ensuring the future of the bridleways of North Lancashire"

Meet The NLBS

Introducing……….. Heather Park and Henry

Heather (although still only 21!) has been competing in Endurance riding since 1984.

Her current equine partner, Henry (and no, he doesn’t have a posh name) is a beautiful 15 year old, pure bred arab whose ancestry can be traced back into the 1850's.

Heather says of her horse, “He is a Crabbet Arab and when I look at the pictures from when the breed line was established I can tell where he gets the white blaze and stockings!!”

“In 2000 he was reserve novice champion for the Endurance Horse and Pony society of Great Britain. We regularly complete in rides of 40-64kilometres and travel from North Cumbria to Lincolnshire/South Yorkshire and Nottingham to enjoy our sport. My partner Paul acts as "crew" and without him keeping the hydration levels right we would suffer, especially during the hotter months when we are riding for 3-5 hours at 13kph which means trotting and cantering almost non stop for the whole of the competition.”

The photo shows Heather and her horse cantering up the final hill at the end of a 52kms ride in Durham.

Thank you to Heather and Henry for being the first brave pair to introduce themselves.
