The inaugural meeting of the NLBS was held on 6th May 1997 and since that first meeting we have grown from strength to strength.
We are mainly concerned with the area of North Lancashire but we liaise closely with the Cumbria Bridleways Society and with the Bowland Forest Bridleways Group, very much aware that our bridleways, off-road routes and quiet lanes must feed into and become a part of a much wider nationwide network of bridleways, not just for ourselves but for generations of horse riders to come.
The financial support for our work comes from the subscriptions and from fund raising. Social events are also an important part of our Society. We hold regular meetings every two months, at Hest Bank Memorial Hall, but we believe it is also important to enjoy each other's company, whilst enjoying the outdoors and our horses as well.
We welcome new members from the North Lancashire area and also from the surrounding areas and we have several carriage drivers amongst our members. Quiet roads and off-road access are important issues for us all.
