Although you may yet have this to discover, North Lancashire is a beautiful part of the country with the coast, the valleys and the fells making for variable, interesting and at many times breathtaking riding country. The area includes the Lune Valley and the designated areas of outstanding natural beauty, the Silverdale & Arnside area** and the Forest of Bowland.
The members of NLBS have a wealth of knowledge of riding routes, not only in the immediate North Lancs. area, but also in the bordering areas of South Cumbria and the upper Yorkshire Dales. We have compiled a folder containing a collection of 8 routes which is available to buy at £2.50.
If you would like any information concerning riding in this area, then e-mail: info@nlbs.org.uk for contact numbers. You will see that NLBS has several informal rides taking place around the area for members of the Society, but as membership is only £5 each year, you could sample a variety of rides for £5 and find out for yourself what a wonderful place North Lancashire is - and also make lots of new friends in NLBS!
** This area has its own web site and there are references to the promotion of horse riding in the AONB. We hope to see access opportunities develop in this area. The web site is www.arnsidesilverdaleaonb.org.uk
